The case is now being investigated as murder and attempted murder. The attempted murder took place in Rönnby and the murder in Skultuna. Both victims are, according to the police, women, and the suspected perpetrator is a man.

The two women have, or have had, a relationship with the suspected man, says the police's press spokesperson Maria Hall.

The murder, according to the police, took place indoors.

The perpetrator has been taken to hospital with unknown injuries. The police have cordoned off an area in Skultuna for technical investigation.

The injured woman was also taken to hospital. According to Region Västmanland, she is lightly injured. The woman, who is between 35-44 years old, will remain in hospital for observation.

It is no longer considered a danger to the general public and the VMA that was issued during the morning.

Information about an arrest came shortly after 11 am and around the same time, TT's reporter on the spot witnessed that multiple ambulances arrived at a residence in Skultuna.

The police previously assessed the perpetrator as dangerous and a VMA went out in Skultuna during the morning. The residents were urged to stay indoors.

Residents: "Scary"

Kim Jansson lives in Skultuna and heard police helicopters buzzing over the roofs in the morning.

The boy had just gone to school, and then we heard helicopters, he tells TT's reporter on the spot.

Kim Jansson had contact with his son, who is a teenager, via SMS and got to hear that the students were locked in. He himself also had to stay indoors due to the VMA that was issued.

I saw a lot of police cars, I think it was the task force that came, and ambulances later. There were a lot of blue lights.

It's scary. Unpleasant, he says about what happened.

Two serious violent crimes

The first alarm came in as early as 7 am and large police operations were underway during the morning in both Rönnby and Skultuna in Västerås municipality.

The perception is that the person is considered dangerous, said Tobias Ahlén Svalbro, press spokesperson for the police, shortly before lunch.

In the search for the perpetrator, among other things, a helicopter was deployed.

The distance between Rönnby and Skultuna, where the suspected crimes have occurred, is around one mile.
