Corren has tested the system and has been able to access protected personal data that has been disclosed when authorities transfer personal data between each other ahead of the election.
It is complex, but secrecy does not extend all the way, says Anna Blomberg, lawyer at the Election Authority.
The authority is now investigating various solutions to better protect personal data.
"We are experimenting with new technical solutions and are currently analysing them. Only after that will we know what may be needed," says Anna Blomberg.
The problem of protected personal data being disclosed in connection with elections has been known for a long time and has been raised with previous governments by responsible authorities.
