In an email to Dagens Samhälle and SVT Nyheter Skåne, prosecutor Magdalena Petersson confirms she is waiving her right to appeal.
The politicians were charged over a political decision to stop receiving quota refugees. The Migration Board decided in March 2022 that Staffanstorp would receive four quota refugees from a non-European country, but the municipality halted the reception.
Lund District Court justified the acquittal by saying that the decision lacked the precision required to constitute an exercise of authority over an individual, which is a prerequisite for it to be a matter of misconduct.
