Not guilty to the two charges, said James on the spot in a federal court in Norfolk in the state of Virginia on Friday, according to the media company CNN.
The judge in the case announced shortly thereafter that the trial will begin on January 26 next year and is expected to last for five days.
James became known when she successfully conducted a lawsuit against Donald Trump and his company. Trump was accused of having lied to banks and other financial institutions about his own companies' assets. He was convicted in the fall of 2023 and sentenced to pay billions, but the sentence was annulled by an appeals court in August.
The indictment against James is one of three ongoing cases against outspoken and well-known Trump critics. The other two are Trump's former security adviser John Bolton, who is suspected of having shared classified material, and James Comey - former head of the FBI - where the allegations concern perjury.
Trump and his administration are accused, among other things by Democrats in the US Congress, of vendetta against political opponents.
