The prosecutor requested twelve years in prison for the man who appealed his rape conviction in the Gisèle Pelicot case.
The appealing man was originally sentenced to nine years in prison, but the sentence had not yet come into force when the appeal verdict was announced on Thursday.
The man claimed in turn that he was innocent of intentionally raping Pelicot, referring to the fact that he believed Pelicot had consented to sex where she "pretended to sleep"
The 50-year-old is the only one of the 51 men convicted of raping Gisèle Pelicot who has appealed his verdict.
The abuse of Pelicot went on for ten years and was staged by her husband, who drugged his wife and invited strange men to rape her.
