The prosecutor is seeking 3.5 years' imprisonment for former skiing top athlete Anders Besseberg, who is on trial for gross corruption, writes NTB. The prosecution authority also wants the 79-year-old Besseberg to be fined 750,000 kronor.

The Norwegian, previously chairman of the International Biathlon Union (IBU), was sentenced to three years and one month's imprisonment last year, but Besseberg appealed the verdict to the court of appeal, equivalent to the court of appeal.

Anders Besseberg was the IBU chairman for 25 years before he resigned.

The trial, which has lasted for five weeks, concludes on Wednesday.
