"Marius Borg Høiby is not a monster. None of us are," said prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø in his closing argument on Monday.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit's son said on Friday that he is no longer considered "Marius" but is regarded as a monster and "the object of hatred of all of Norway."
"We are all people with strengths and weaknesses. He should not be judged for who he is, but for what he has done," Henriksbø continued, according to Norwegian media.
Marius Borg Høiby is on trial for a number of crimes, with four counts of rape being the most serious. He faces up to 16 years in prison. The trial is expected to continue until Thursday.
