"The preliminary investigation has now entered a stage where we continue to hold interviews and analyse material. Information gathering and crime scene investigation are also ongoing," prosecutor Ann-Sofie Trossing says in a press release.
"The investigation is already extensive and my assessment is that it will take time to complete."
A 17-year-old girl was killed and two boys were seriously injured when a perpetrator attacked with a sword at a high school in Fagersta last Friday. On Sunday, the 18-year-old suspect was taken into custody on probable cause for murder and attempted murder.
The trial date is set for September 21, 2026.
