"The boy is still relevant in the investigation, but the investigation has shown that he was not at the crime scene at the time of the shooting," says senior prosecutor Caroline Carlquist in a press release.
The boy later retracted his confession. P3 Krim reported that he said he took responsibility for the murder “in exchange for some compensation.”
The incident received a lot of attention because the boy was the youngest person to have been suspected of a fatal shooting in Sweden.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was fatally shot in a car on December 12. Several other people are also suspects in the case.
