"Five people are charged with procuring the drugs by obtaining them from a criminal network," says senior prosecutor Sofia Karlsson in a press release from the Swedish Prosecution Authority.
Additional people are being charged with being involved in handling the drugs. Four of the suspects were arrested and remanded in custody in June last year, while others were arrested in August when the drugs were seized.
"Our view is that the seizure of the drugs was the motive for a number of violent acts that occurred last spring against relatives of some of the now-indicted individuals," says senior prosecutor Berit Andreasson.
