The requirement for introductory training has been a barrier to private practice driving and has limited the ability to easily practice driving with several different instructors.
Now, the government is proposing amendments to the Driving Licence Act in a legislative council report. The introductory training has not contributed to increasing the quality of private practice driving for category B and is therefore being abolished.
"This is a simplification that could lead to more mass training, as the proposal is considered to make it easier for prospective drivers to practice driving with multiple instructors," says Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson in a press release.
