Difficulties canceling a subscription or getting through to someone by phone. Now the government wants to fine customer services that don't behave.

The government believes that the current legal requirements are insufficient. There will be no penalties for a company that does not comply with the rules. Furthermore, there is no authority responsible for monitoring compliance with the requirements.

"As a customer, you should not have to be stuck in endless telephone queues. When customer service is an obstacle rather than a help, there is a risk that customers will be kept in contracts that they actually wanted to terminate," says Minister of Civil Service Erik Slottner (KD) in a press release.

The proposal now being sent out for consultation applies to companies covered by the Act on Services in the Internal Market and concerns, among other things, retail.
