The goal is a privately managed scale-up fund of SEK 10 billion, with the capacity to invest SEK 500 million in individual companies, the Acceleration Office says in a press release. The state is proposed as the fund’s coordinator, with a maximum contribution of SEK 2 billion.
In Sweden, there is no fund large enough to attract institutional investors and mobilize the capital the segment requires, the office says.
"We risk becoming a country that develops innovations while other countries build industries and create jobs," says Kristina Alvendal, head of the Acceleration Office, in a written comment.
The proposal will be submitted to the government on Tuesday.
