The signatories are 33 lawyers, professors, former justices and leaders of Säpo and the Swedish Bar Association.
They object to "comprehensive proposals in areas such as migration and criminal law" which they call the "most comprehensive transformation of the Swedish legal system in modern times."
Central principles of the rule of law are being weakened and the foundations of the rule of law risk being undermined, while safety nets are being called into question, they write.
"We see how investigation directives are being more tightly controlled, investigation and referral times are being shortened, and the Legal Affairs Council's criticism is dismissed."
Criticism is dismissed as "alarmism or activism," they believe.
