"MDA team provided medical care to 16 people who were lightly injured by glass shards from shattered windows in nearby buildings due to the attack's impact," writes Israel's rescue service MDA in a statement.

The reports on the number of injured vary, according to a hospital in central Israel, 20 people were injured.

Israel's military claims that attempts to shoot down the projectile failed.

The Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen is taking responsibility for the attack, which according to the movement was carried out with a ballistic missile. The Houthi movement has previously attacked Israel with missiles and drones several times. Israel has previously responded to the attacks with its own attacks on targets in Yemen.
