The current development policy, under which teenagers are forced to leave Sweden, violates the constitution. This is the view of Professor Ludvig Beckman, who is therefore resigning his seat on the Swedish Migration Board's ethics council.

"It is mainly because of these expulsions, which have run amok and received a lot of attention recently. I feel I don't want to sit around and legitimize this anymore," Beckman, professor of political science at Stockholm University, told DN.

He served on the council as one of six members and had an appointment until June 2027.

According to Beckman, the expulsions violate the first chapter of the Constitution, which states: "Public power shall be exercised with respect for the freedom and dignity of the individual."

The issue of young people who grew up in Sweden and are threatened with deportation when they turn 18 has become a political hot potato.
