"There is currently limited research on what drives these men's crimes against women, especially when it comes to studies based on first-hand information from the men themselves. To influence their behavior, we need a deeper understanding of why they commit these acts and in what context the violence occurs," says project leader Shilan Caman, a researcher at Karolinska Institutet, in a press release from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
The researchers want to interview prisoners who have killed a female partner and to identify differences between younger and older perpetrators. Treatment staff in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service will also be interviewed.
In addition, information from personal files and judgments is collected.
