The entire royal family was present at Drottningholms Palace Church, which was beautifully decorated with flowers in various shades of red. Princess Ines is the ninth grandchild of the royal couple and for some of the younger participants standing at the altar, a ceremony lasting almost half an hour was more than what patience could handle.
It was Princess Sofia, wearing a citrus-yellow dress with matching hairband and shoes, who carried the day's main person into the church to the tune of "Till mitt sista andetag", the love song she wrote to Prince Carl Philip and which was performed at the couple's wedding dinner in 2015 by Molly Sandén and Danny Saucedo.
The four-month-old princess showed both patience and good humor throughout the entire baptismal act – useful qualities perhaps when you have three older brothers. Not even when court chaplain Johan Dalman sprinkled water on her head did she make any sound.
Water from Öland
The baptismal water is, as usual at royal baptisms, taken from a well on Solliden on Öland, and it was the brothers Alexander, Gabriel and Julian who, with some assistance from Johan Dalman, poured it into the baptismal font.
The eldest cousin, Princess Estelle, is one of her five godparents, along with Fredrik von der Esch, Claes Kockum, Sandrine Kockum and Tiara Larsson, daughter of Princess Sofia's childhood friend and also Sofia's godmother.
Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia was born at Danderyd Hospital on Friday, February 7, 49 centimeters long and 3.6 kilograms heavy. She is Princess Sofia's and Prince Carl Philip's fourth child and can, in addition to princess, also title herself Duchess of Västerbotten.
Music from "Björnbröder"
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are known for putting a personal touch on family celebrations, not least in the choice of music, and during the baptismal ceremony, music from Västerbotten and from the film "Björnbröder" was performed.
Among the guests were, in addition to family members, Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard, the county governors of Västerbotten and Värmland, Helene Hellmark Knutsson and Georg Andrén, as well as a number of personal friends of the family.
After the baptismal ceremony, a reception was held for invited guests and then a private lunch.
