This is how the “Aurora borealis star dome” by Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias can be described. The site-specific sculpture is this year’s addition to the Princess Estelle Sculpture Park on Djurgården in Stockholm and is located at the highest point in the area.
Cristina Iglesias has created a room for visitors to enter, built from branches cast in aluminum that appear to grow out of the bedrock. At the top sits a dome of colored glass.
Prince Daniel inaugurated the work on Tuesday, with Princess Estelle and Crown Princess Victoria present; like the other sculptures, it is accessible to all passersby.
At the opening, composer Britta Byström's specially written piece "Tempel im gehör" was performed.
