"The crime should be assessed as serious because the material involved a particularly large number of images and videos, and material in which the children are particularly young and are exploited in a particularly ruthless manner," writes prosecutor Lindha Strömberg in the lawsuit.
In total, the priest had nearly 53,000 pictures.
The priest has worked in several municipalities in Norrbotten. He does not have a permanent position, but served as a substitute in one of the county's municipalities as recently as last summer.
The police seizure consisted of three computers and three USB sticks.
The crime was revealed in August last year.
