A week's skiing holiday in the mountains during the sports break. It attracts many people, but then it costs. Expect around 50,000 kronor for a family of two children. It has almost become a matter of class, says Magnus Hjemér, everyday economist at ICA Bank, about mountain holidays in Sweden.

The sports holiday in February is the time when many people want to go to the Swedish mountains. However, this means opening your wallet wide. Just like in previous years, prices rise sharply during this period, and in 2026, the most expensive is week 9 – the period when Stockholmers have sports holidays.

ICA Bank has conducted a review that shows that two adults and two children will pay around 50,000 kronor for a week's stay at resorts such as Idre, Sälen or Åre. This includes accommodation, lift passes, equipment rental, ski school and outdoor lunches.

There are actually two things that make the holiday very expensive. It's the accommodation that swallows up a large part, but also the lift passes, says Magnus Hjemér.

According to the calculation, Ramundberget is the most expensive option. A stay during week 9 costs a total of 54,942 SEK, according to ICA Bank's calculations.

CEO Philip Flacké confirms the prices.

"Of course, we review the prices before each season. It's not that we generally raise them. For this year, we have increased the price by about 5 percent, and it's the first time in several years," he tells TT.

Philip Flacké explains that Ramundberget is now higher in terms of price in week 9 than larger ski resorts such as Åre and Sälen due to the availability of beds.

The price comparison is made at a specific time (November) and we are a residential facility with few beds. If you take the larger facilities, they also have greater capacity and perhaps more beds left, while we have already sold a lot. Of course, that also affects the price.

To keep costs down, Magnus Hjemér advises finding alternatives when it comes to the food budget, among other things.

Food is a big expense. Is there any way to cook at home and take lunch with you out on the slopes?

Another option is to try to find used ski equipment instead of renting on site.

Children grow incredibly fast and it is by far the cheapest to buy used if you look at the usage rate per week.
