Sergio "Checo" Pérez will remain with Red Bull until 2026, according to Formula 1.

The Mexican has driven for the dominant team since 2021 and has taken five wins since then. Last year, he finished second in the drivers' championship, behind his teammate Max Verstappen. He has finished on the podium several times this year but has struggled in recent races.

"I'm happy to stay here to continue our journey together and contribute to this team's fantastic history for another two years. Being part of the team is an enormous challenge – one I love," the 34-year-old says in a statement.

His teammate, Dutchman and reigning champion Max Verstappen, has a contract until 2028. He has said during the spring that he plans to see out his contract, despite persistent rumors of a move to Mercedes.
