Preschool Tragedy: Boy Unattended Before Fatal Vest Accident

The four-year-old boy died after getting stuck with the preschool's reflective vest. It is now emerging that the boy may have been without supervision on the preschool's playground for up to half an hour when the accident occurred, reports P4 Västerbotten.

The prosecutor has told the family that it is unclear exactly how long the boy was left unattended at the time of the accident, but that it should be between 10 and 30 minutes.

That it can be up to 30 minutes, it's impossible to comprehend, it's too terrible, says one of the boy's relatives to the radio.

The investigation shows that the boy was wearing a reflective vest with a broken edge band at the back when he was playing in a slide on December 5 last year. The reflective vest got stuck in the edge of the slide and the boy suffered such severe injuries that he died two days later.

On Monday, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Anna Lundberg announced that the preliminary investigation into manslaughter had been dropped "since it is not possible to show that anyone's actions have been so negligent that they should be considered punishable".
