The explosions were heard after authorities warned of a threat of rocket attacks, and residents were urged to seek shelter.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko says that a residential building and an office building have been damaged, and that rubble has fallen across the area.
In the southern port city of Odesa, authorities also reported an attack. A 19-storey apartment building was damaged and several floors were destroyed, the local military command said on Telegram.
