This is the clade 1b variant, the Danish National Board of Health said in a press release.
"The case does not warrant a change in the assessment of the risk of infection in Denmark, but serves as a reminder to protect yourself against sexually transmitted diseases when you are with a new partner," the authority said.
Isolated cases of the variant have been discovered in Europe in recent years.
The person in Denmark is believed to have been infected through sexual contact abroad. After returning home, they developed mild symptoms and contacted their doctor, according to the Danish National Board of Health.
