Reuters writes that the plant is expected to have a capacity of 80-90 megawatts. It is a so-called agrovoltaic project, where the solar panels are mounted several metres above the ground. The shade they provide will in turn make cultivation beneath the panels easier.
The agrovoltaic park is being built in an agricultural area outside Rome owned by the Vatican. Vatican City itself is the world's smallest country, with an area of less than 0.5 square kilometres and fewer than 900 inhabitants.
