Happy Sunday to all, says Pope Francis to the crowd at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican City in Rome, where he has been rolled out in a wheelchair.
He is met with applause as he waves to the audience, who have gathered for a special jubilee mass dedicated to the sick.
It is his first public appearance in the Vatican since he was discharged from Gemelli Hospital in Rome two weeks ago. The 88-year-old was treated there for five weeks for a life-threatening lung infection.
Thank you very much, says the Pope, according to AP with a stronger voice than when he spoke to a crowd when he left the hospital on March 23.
