During the week, VA Syd flushed wastewater into the canal in Malmö due to an acute leak in a sewer line.
At the same time, Malmö residents were urged not to flush after every toilet visit, not to use washing machines or dishwashers, and to shower at friends' homes outside the city.
At midnight on Friday, the sewer leak was fixed, and residents can now use their sewers as usual, VA Syd announces.
Now several bilge pumps will be installed in the canal to collect visible sewage.
VA Syd tells Sydsvenskan that they will continue until "we have removed all visible pollution".
