Trump is ranked number one on the news site's annual list of the 28 most influential people in Europe.
“It is clear that Europe is dealing with an unpredictable, dominant partner whose impulses can turn the continent upside down overnight,” states Politico in its list for 2026.
Number two on the list is Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, followed by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French opposition leader Marine Le Pen. One Swede is among the 28: Spotify founder Daniel Ek in 18th place.
In recent years, the corresponding list has been topped by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni (2025), Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk (2024) and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (2023).
