Members of Parliament Lorena Delgado Varas and Daniel Riazat, who left the Left Party this summer, are now starting a new party – The Left of the Future.
On Friday, a website was launched and it is now possible to apply for membership in the party.
Our goal is to be represented in several Swedish municipalities after the next election, says Delgado Varas.
Delgado Varas and Riazat remain independents in the Riksdag, but in the autumn elections both are running for the Left of the Future in their home municipality of Stockholm. The focus right now is to build a local base for the party, not to aim to enter the Riksdag.
Issues that the party will pursue include housing, climate, international solidarity, feminism and disarmament.
