A police officer who used an electric shock weapon against a 13-year-old boy has been convicted of assault, reports P4 Skaraborg.

The incident occurred in Mariestad earlier this year. The boy, who was unruly and acting out, was handcuffed and strapped into the back seat of a police car when the police used their stun gun on him. It was disproportionate, according to the Skaraborg District Court.

If the verdict becomes final, the police will lose their jobs, according to a statement from the police personnel responsibility board.
