Demonstrators threw colour and tried to rush the stage during Israel's performance in the European Championship final. This is reported by EBU to NRK.

The whole thing happened during Yuval Raphael's performance of the entry "New day will rise". EBU says that an intervention was made against a demonstrator in the audience.

At the end of the Israeli performance, a man and a woman tried to climb over a fence. They were stopped. One of the demonstrators threw paint and a person in production got it on them. But no one was injured, says EBU's spokesperson to NRK.

The man and woman have been handed over to the police.

24-year-old Yuval Raphael is one of the survivors of Hamas' attack on an Israeli music festival on October 7, 2023.

In central Basel, a demonstration was also stopped by the police, who used tear gas and rubber bullets against pro-Palestinian demonstrators on Saturday evening.

Israel's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest has been disputed since the war in Gaza began. The competition in Malmö last year was characterized by protests and demonstrations against the country's participation. EBU was accused of hypocrisy when they let Israel remain in the competition, after previously having excluded Russia in 2022 due to Putin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
