Thousands of Sydney residents marched on Monday in protest against Isaac Herzog's visit.

The protests began peacefully but turned into clashes after police tried to disperse the demonstrators, several media outlets reported.

Police reportedly used pepper spray against both protesters and journalists at the scene. Video footage shows police pushing back the crowd.

The Israeli president visited the site of the December terrorist attack on Bondi Beach, in which 15 people were shot dead at a Jewish celebration. In a speech, Herzog said that anti-Semitism has been rampant in Australia since the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel in 2023.
