An elderly man opened fire from a villa in Osby, Skåne, on Sunday. The firearm was unlicensed, and another weapon was found at the scene; the man is suspected of weapons offenses.

The alarm came at 12:30 p.m. The gunfire prompted police to evacuate nearby homes and to urge people in the area to stay indoors and away from windows and doors.

Soon, the dispatched task force "secured" two men in the home. After questioning, it emerged that one of the men, who is in his 80s, had fired a type of black-powder weapon from the villa. It is not considered to require a license, and therefore the man was not suspected of a crime after using the weapon, the police wrote on their website.

However, during the search, police also found another weapon for which the man did not have a license. A report of a violation of the Weapons Act has been filed.
