Police Struggle to Recruit for Sweden’s National Task Force as Fewer Applicants Pass Tests

The police are struggling to recruit suitable personnel for the National Task Force, according to the P1 documentary "The Task Force from the Inside".

Only three to four percent of those who apply to the task force are accepted, and in recent years fewer and fewer have passed the entrance tests.

Mårten, who heads the task force, says in the documentary that the so-called task force operators must be highly trained, have strong cognitive abilities and be able to withstand stress.

The National Task Force can be called in, for example, in the event of attacks at schools, terrorist attacks and hostage situations.
