The police were on site at a school in Hagfors following a phone call on Monday morning, which Värmlands Folkblad was the first to report on.
According to the police, the call concerned a "possible ongoing criminal act at the school".
We are checking and verifying the truth of the call, said Anders Dahlman, press spokesperson for the Bergslagen police region, to Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.
Staff and students were evacuated from the school and relatives were advised to stay away. Shortly after 10, the police announced that the operation at the school had been completed.
No one was found injured or in need of assistance. An investigation into false alarm has been initiated.
