"We have found a suspected dangerous object and are investigating the incident as a serious violation of the Flammable Goods Act," said Otto Eriksson, the officer on duty.
The object was found near the Nordstan bus stop, not far from Gothenburg Central Station.
Västtrafik says there are disruptions to public transport at Nordstan and the Nils Ericson Terminal.
