The incident occurred at 4:21 p.m. when a police patrol was about to check a number of quad bikes, according to police.
It became tumultuous and a police officer was hit by one of the quad bikes, Morten Gunneng, the officer on duty, told the newspaper.
The police officer's injuries are described as minor and the case is classified as violence against an officer. Later on Sunday, a man in his 50s handed himself over to police.
"It's a suspect who has turned himself in, he's being questioned at the moment. He took the tram here and turned himself in - the pressure was probably too much," Morten Gunneng told Göteborgs-Posten this evening.
