A police officer has been convicted of several cases of assault at a blues festival in Åmål, local media reports.

At the festival in the summer of 2024, an intervention turned violent. The police allegedly beat him with a baton and used pepper spray. He was charged with assaulting four people.

The man, who denies the crime, is convicted in the district court of three counts of assault. However, he is acquitted of a fourth count of assault.

The police officer was sentenced to a suspended sentence and a 100-day fine. He must also pay a total of just over 120,000 kronor in damages to the victims.

The Police Personnel Board has previously assessed that he will lose his job if convicted, writes TTELA .
