A police officer who was prosecuted for hitting a teenager on a moped in Kalmar county is convicted of reckless driving. However, the police officer is acquitted of the charge of assault, local media report.
The incident occurred in August last year. The police officer thought they recognised the teenager from before and tried to stop the moped rider.
The police officer swerved onto the wrong side of the road and rammed the moped, causing the teenager to crash into the police car.
The moped rider sustained minor injuries. It later turned out that the teenager was not the person the police were looking for.
According to the district court, it was not an intentional collision, but rather the police officer had lost control of their vehicle and is therefore convicted of reckless driving, fined 100 day-fines.
