A 35-year-old police officer has been convicted of assaulting a woman in Örebro in November this year.
Örebro District Court sentences the man to a suspended sentence and community service.
The assault occurred at the man's home and was not related to his duties. According to the indictment, he sat on the woman, choked her and slammed her head on the floor.
According to a statement from the police's personnel board, the man will be dismissed if he is convicted of assault that is not considered minor. Örebro District Court sentences the man to assault of the normal degree.
The fact that the man will lose his job will be taken into account when the district court determines the penalty.
The man has denied the crime.
