”The unstable world situation that prevails means that the regions will already now take the operational measures required based on their local problem picture and which can be feared to have an impact on the safety around the upcoming elections”, says Marie Borg, national commander in a press release on the police's website.
The Police Authority will specifically focus on that ”the fundamental freedoms of opinion can be exercised with maintained order and safety”.
”We fear that election-related demonstrations may start significantly earlier this year than they have done before previous elections. We therefore want to be proactive to get better conditions to lead and coordinate the work”, says Tobias Bergkvist, deputy regional police chief Stockholm.
