Police Investigate Suspected Match-Fixing After False Alarm Before Nacka FC-Syrianska Match

Police and union officials were on site to monitor Sunday’s Division 2 match between Nacka FC and Syrianska, following the alarm over suspected match-fixing.

On Friday, the police said on their website that they had filed a report of attempted match-fixing and that there was reason to "assume that players or team officials had been subjected to attempts to pressure them" before the match, in which survival in the division was at stake.

The match at Myrsjö IP ended in a 4–2 win for Nacka FC.

"This kind of thing should have no place in football, and I think it's really sad that something like this even needs to be discussed," Syrianska coach Özcan Melkemichel told Expressen.

Nacka FC club manager Salih Shala is critical of the fact that the clubs were not informed in advance by the police. This made it more difficult to support the players.

I think it made things even worse. But we've done what we could.
