The police were notified of the incident on Tuesday morning and a large police operation was launched in a townhouse area.
This child did not show up at school when it started this morning. That's when we became concerned and contacted the police, says Leif Fransson, press spokesperson for the police.
The woman and the child, who are under 15 years old, were found dead in their own home, but the police do not want to go into further detail about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The suspect was arrested at 1:30 p.m. In the evening, it was announced that the man had been arrested as a reasonable suspect, the lower level of suspicion out of two.
Police do not want to say what relationship the man has to the victims.
The crime classification is murder in two cases, says Leif Fransson.
Door knocking is ongoing in the area and the crime scene is cordoned off for forensic examination.
It will certainly last for one or two days when it comes to such serious crimes, says Leif Fransson.
Due to the incident, Hörby Municipality has activated its crisis support. The municipal building and church will remain open during the evening.
