Police Investigate Illegal Drone Use in Norrbotten Moose Hunts

Police in Norrbotten are investigating hunting offences involving drones used during moose hunts this fall, after receiving a tip.

“You see a very clear pattern in the areas where this is happening, and we have identified some individuals who are doing this,” says Nicklas Berglund, the police’s hunting and game coordinator, to P4 Norrbotten.

He says police have received “credible”, “detailed and specific” tips that some people are using drones to locate moose. Others are also using drones to drive the animals towards the shooters.

Using drones while hunting is illegal and can, in some cases, be classified as a serious hunting offence.

“It is incredibly annoying when some individuals don’t conduct the hunt the way they should,” says Berglund.
