According to the police, two of the detainees are 25 and 30 years old. The third is a boy who is under 18 years old. They are now suspected of extremely serious crimes against the law on flammable and explosive goods. Interrogations have been held with the suspects, but the police cannot disclose what they have said.

The police are now working to find out more about the incident.

We are talking to people and analyzing some camera surveillance in the area. There are quite a few places around, so we are trying to gather it, says the police's press spokesperson Lina Friberg.

The police received the alarm call about a "suspected dangerous object" in Västra hamnen just before 18:30 on Friday evening. Soon it was deemed to be about several dangerous objects, whereupon a large operation was initiated, and a so-called VMA (important message to the public) was issued. A larger area was cordoned off, both residents and businesses were evacuated, and the national bomb squad was called to the scene.

Just after 22:00, the danger was over.

The police cannot say whether the hand grenades are suspected to have been directed against a specific target.

That's something the investigation will show, says Lina Friberg.
