The weekend's shooting in Gävle, where six people were shot, has gang connections, according to the police. The shot individuals are not believed to have been targets. ”We have made several interesting seizures and the investigation situation looks good", says Karin Wessén, head of the investigation section in the police area Gävleborg.

The crime is classified as serious weapons offense and attempted murder. The suspect, a 14-year-old boy, has been interviewed over the weekend, as have various witnesses.

"We have a good understanding of the sequence of events, among other things, through the digital tracks we have secured", says Wessén in a press release.

She says that they cannot release more details and that it is too early to say anything about the motive or who was actually the target of the attack.

"This type of incident creates insecurity, which is why we will continue to be visible and available to the public in places where many people move around).

The shooting has, according to the police, gang connections and those who were hit are not believed to have been intended targets, the police write in a brief update on Monday.

Prosecutor Fredrik Ingblad is taciturn about the investigation because it is at such an early stage.

An interview has been held with the one who can be suspected, but I cannot comment on the content of it.

Corrected version: In an earlier version, it was incorrectly stated that the shooting was not supposed to have gang connections. The correct information is that it is considered to have gang connections.
