Gävle Shooting: Police Say Victims Were Not Intended Targets

The weekend's shooting in Gävle where six people were shot is not believed to have gang connections, according to the police. The crime is classified as serious weapons offense and attempted murder. The suspect, a 14-year-old boy, has been interviewed over the weekend, as have various witnesses.

"We have a good picture of the sequence of events, among other things, through the digital tracks we have secured", says Wessén in a press release.

She says that they cannot release more details and that it is too early to say anything about the motive or who was actually the target of the attack.

"This type of event creates insecurity, therefore we will continue to be visible and available to the public in the places where many people move around).

The shooting, according to the police, should not have any gang connection and those who were hit are not believed to have been intended targets, the police write in a brief update on Monday.
