Spanish police fire rubber bullets as far-right groups target protest camps

Protesters have gathered across Spain this week to demand affordable housing. In several cities, protesters have set up camps in city centres.

On Saturday evening, several far-right groups gathered around the camps and tried to get in, writes El País .

In Valencia, both demonstrators and journalists were injured when a neo-Nazi group and demonstrators tried to get past police barriers to reach each other. Police reportedly fired warning shots, causing chaos. Nine people have been arrested by police.

Earlier in the evening, police in Madrid fired rubber bullets at far-right groups who tried to enter the protest camp at the central square Puerta del Sol. Three people were reportedly arrested in the capital.
