Around 100 kilos of drugs as well as cash and valuables worth one million kronor were seized in a major crackdown on a criminal network in Gothenburg, where 25 suspects were taken in for questioning.

Thursday's police operation targeted so-called "enablers", that is, people who, for example, provide their bank accounts and transfer money to the gangs.

Around 40 house searches were carried out, 25 people were taken for questioning and additional people were questioned on site.

By the afternoon, five people had been arrested, suspected of, among other things, drug offenses and money laundering.

"We are targeting the so-called enablers because without them, the principals cannot act as easily. Transferring money on behalf of someone may seem innocent, but that is what is required for the serious crimes to be financed and carried out," says Magnus Dahl, head of preliminary investigation in Region West, to the police website.
