A hotel in central Stockholm has been plagued by extensive and long-standing problems with prostitution. Now the police are forcing the hotel to close – and imposing a fine of one million.

The police have caught and prosecuted a large number of men who bought sex inside the hotel, the authority writes on its website. This is said to have been going on for a long time.

Despite the owners being informed, the problem has persisted and the operation is now being stopped by the police, citing that it "contradicts public order and safety."

Furthermore, a fine of SEK 5 million is imposed.

According to the police, this is the first time that a hotel in Sweden has been forced to close due to prostitution.
